TIE-BC Announcement Details

TIE-BC Logo Contest - Deadline Dec. 1st

20-Nov-2016

As you may be aware, the Special Education Association passed a resolution at our 2016 AGM to formally change our name to Teachers of Inclusive Education British Columbia (TIE-BC). This new name reflects changing philosophies and practices in working with students with diverse needs. Now it is time to update our logo as well. The ‘blue hands’, as they are affectionately known, have served us well for the past four decades. We are reluctant to abandon them completely, so we are hoping for a way to incorporate them, whether in spirit or in reality, in a new design that reflects our updated name and direction. We are looking for ideas from you, our loyal membership, to realize this goal. If you or any of your students have an artistic streak, a background in design, or just a great idea, please consider submitting your idea for a new logo.

All submissions will be reviewed by members of our executive, and four finalists will be chosen. TIE-BC members will be given the opportunity to vote online for their favourite finalist. The chosen design will then be unveiled at our 42nd Annual Crosscurrents Conference, taking place February 23 & 24th, 2017. Our new logo will be used on all our future communications and publications.

Requirements for new logo submissions:

Size of logo to be submitted within an 8” x 6” area on an 8.5” x 11” page

Colour: Logo must be legible and distinct in both colour and black and white.

Professionalism: This logo must reflect the professionalism required of a Provincial Specialist Association.

Aesthetics: Design should be eye-catching, simple, iconic and recognizable.

Adaptability: The logo must be easily reproduced and scalable for large and small formatting, able to be printed on all types of media.

Integrity: Logo entries must be original and not infringe the intellectual property rights of others.

The selected design will become the property of TIE-BC and revisions, as and where required, will be made. However, TIE-BC will respect the integrity of the design and will consult with the winning designer under such circumstances.

TIE-BC is under no obligation to choose any of the submitted logo designs.

If your logo is chosen, you must transfer ownership of your design to TIE-BC. All submissions become the sole property of TIE-BC and will not be returned.

Deadline for submission is December 1, 2016
